Ratchaprapha Dam was originally called Cheow Lan Dam. It is the second multi-purpose dam in the south, and it is located in Surat Thani. When the building was constructed, His Majesty the King bestowed a royal blessing on it. It  was given a new name by the King, "Ratchaprapha Dam" means "Light of the Reign"
